You like animals. That's usually the problem — you want them somewhere else, not hurt.
These devices emit a short ultrasonic burst that most cats and dogs find unpleasant and move away from. Nothing is sprayed, nothing is trapped, nothing is harmed. The animal simply decides this isn't a good place to be.
Two things are honest to say. Deaf or older animals may not respond, and some individuals ignore it entirely. It's a deterrent, not a fence.
